The implementation of SOIP (Strangulation Over IP) would be far more satisfying, however. I heard it's coming in IPv6.

For discussing the possible intent to sell your GW account, you have been kicked from the guild. Have a nice day.

I love Guild Wars. Always have, ever since my friends dragged me kicking and screaming back into the world of Online gaming (I had a really bad experience with EverQuest... as in, I played it. I still get flashbacks... *shudder*). All this hoo-ha about duping and modding... it's just tomorrow's chip-wrappings. A month, 2 months from now... we won't care. We'll have other things to care about. Heck, in about 3 weeks we'll all have other things to care about! ("Hang in there, Gwen - Shiro's comin' for ya!")
Well, except for the OP. And that's too bad for him, y'know? This is *still* a great gaming experience. There's still great people out there and there's still a great game for us to play. Everyday, I play a little more, find something new, get the nerve up to risk buying a new minipet (only, usually, to cry about the price I paid for it), put another 0.1% on my Explorer Titles, meet new people... you think any of that is affected by people who can't tell a Monk from a Necro without colouring them in first? By who's got the most mini-pandas? By how many Armbraces it takes to change a lightbulb? For me, the answer has got to be 'No'.
I *like* ANet's vision of Guild Wars - why would I want to change it? I like their designs, their imagination - far better than mine No modding for me, thank you, and for those that do, I really hope your designs are of the quality of the work they're replacing!
So, OP - give it some thought. What other people do doesn't need to impact your enjoyment of the game. Maybe the price of your Tormented item fluctuates a bit, maybe a few more people have them, and if that truly upsets you then I'm sorry - but it's still the same item, and it should still mean as much to you.
Peace, all.
(Seriously, I'm racing you all to get Gwen in my party!)

All you can do with modding is change the armor colour and possible textures on the existing armor base, once you've bought it for yourself the normal way. So yeah, modders are not destroying the game, they're simply changing the look of existing items they own to suit however they'd like them to look WHILE still maintaining the original SHAPE of that object.
Good luck with your next game, and please check out the facts before proclaiming doom on everyone.

That's pretty much what I was going to say on it, too. The OP points on modding were uninformed and completely wrong.
OH NOES it's the end of the world! Quick, bring me a beer!

Another end of the world prediction. And I don't see the point in bitching about people modding their clients. First of all it's client sided and secondly no one is making you do it. I honestly don't care about modding my client and I know a lot of people who feel the same way. I think the option is nice for people that are into it but it's not something that has to be done. So your over guild wars, quit crying about it. An angel loses it's wings every time someone creates a thread about quiting on here.

Guild Wars PvP has died, I think we can all agree on that.
But for me it's tough for PvE to die, only your interest. There's so much to do, and they implemented the titles which is basically a never ending quest to obtain the max titles.

just to clarify, in case nobody else had:
you can't completely change the apparance of an item, only its texture. that means i can't turn my shortsword into a crystalline. the best i can do is to change the texture of the shortsword into that of the crystalline, which will look crappy.
it also means i can't turn my ranger's 1k armor into the 15k equivalent. remember, the so called modding only applies to texture modding. there's no way to change the 3D structures underneath the textures.
and lastly, modding the skill icons into "interrupt me!!!!" won't help, because while you might know that it's important, you don't know what it is exactly. most of us who pvp on a regular basis already have all the important skill icons burned into our retinas. modding won't help one bit. same goes with health bars.

Just go play another game for a while. Or go outside and chillax and read a book. Download and watch a new anime that you've never seen.
I've been playing Tales of Symphonia, myself. Trying to wait until this problem concerning all the duplicated items blows over the community.
On days when I've lost most interest in Guild Wars, I go out into the garden and read a book. I recommended something Shakespearean or equivilent.
When I'm just kinda bored and don't want to deal with Guild Wars for the time being, I watch the Tales of Symphonia Anime... or Bleach.
Like I said, maybe you should take a break from Guild Wars. But don't pass it off on the game being the problem. The world isn't perfect, ya know. Why would a game be any different.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
Though I will say... it may seem like it's dying but I believe it will be refreshed with GWEN. For awhile we've had chapters every 6 months.. (well only two but still..) and now we've waited almost a year... so I think it's stood up pretty well over that gap in time.
Plus in the end.. Guild Wars can die because... Guild Wars 2 baby!

If you don't like how people can get an advantage by using TexMod, download it yourself. It is free after all. It's like complaining that the guy with a Ferrari can go faster than you, when they're giving away Ferrari's.
Mods in Guild Wars are nothing like most other games. Anything you mod has no effect on what other people see, or how anything works.

How do you know I don't talk to the guild very often? Because I don't talk to you? I'm even less willing to do that after all the dirt you poured on me. I may be acting like a "drama queen" but at least I don't talk smack about my guildies.
As far as I'm concerned, I made a topic in a forum to express my opinion and my concerns (however flawed they may seem to you)
You, on the other hand, fail to express your opinion in a respectful and intelligent manner. What's worse you are my guildie! You mock yourself, the guild and me by posting all this publicly. You could have PMed me, but instead you choose to act like a jerk. What a shame...

First of all, no bold for you, you don't know how to use it.
They are a member of these forums, who, like many others, has noticed all the "I got banned!!111!!!" threads. They don't have to be anything special to say the facts.
Your attacks on this person are hardly a respectful way of going about things. You are entitled to your opinion, however, you also have to stay within forum rules. Unless I am mistaken, you have now broken at least 2 forums rules.
2. Blogs
3. No Flaming/Trolling
You chose to post this in a public forum. That means that you willfully told your story to people. Did you expect us all to just say "You are so brave" or "I wish I was as cool as you"? Never post on forums expecting only positive responses.

Did you even read the posts?
You cannot change the base frame of anything using TexMod. All you can change is the skin. If you tried putting the tormented skin on other shields, not only would you be the only player able to see it, it would look like crap.
If anything, you're the one who sounds ignorant. You're accusing people of lying when they state rather well known information. Maybe you should actually do some research before you post again.

Item and armor based "status" is over-rated... you could be using collector equipment and be a lot better than some dude with full obsidian armor and tormented weapons.. trust me I have pwned far too many players with "uber rare" items in ab/ra/ta/ha before. Of course items would be more representative of your skill if there was no such thing as gold webistes and bots.. which is not the case.
Anyway, dude modders are not hurting the game just themselves and dupers are scammers that are affecting the game somewhat but I really don't think they are ruining it for you.
g'night

I like the new mods, it makes it a lot easier. Just look @ WoW. They have mods that tell you how much money you make in a week/month based on buying/selling. Mods that tell you when you crit, mods that tell you where ore is to mine (so you don't have to memorized), and mods that tell you the average selling of an item on the Auction House.
It just makes things easier, and that's why mods make games more successful.

Not to mention, there are a few mods out there that you *need* for certain areas of the game.
